Simple Funeral Plan

This Simple Funeral Plan is ideal for anyone wanting a very simple traditional funeral,  that includes the funeral director's fees for arranging and conducting a funeral with a ceremony for unlimited family and friends to attend.   This plan gives you peace of mind knowing that the funeral director's costs are covered, no matter how much they may rise in the future.

To keep the plan cost as low as possible, the following third-party fees are not included in your plan:  cremation fees, celebrant or minister's fees (if using), and possible doctors' cremation certification fees .†  This means your representative will need to pay for these services at the time of the funeral, where applicable.

Doctors' fees:  Two medical certificates must be completed before the cremation can go ahead.  If the death is referred to the Coroner, e.g. when the death is sudden, unexplained or where the deceased person was not seen by a doctor within the previous 14 days, then no medical certification fees are due.  Changes to legislation in May 2015 means these fees are no longer payable in Scotland.  Similar legislation may take effect in the rest of the UK.  Because of this, and the fact that doctors' fees are not always due (£164 - as at March 2020), some funeral plan providers choose not to include the cost in their plans and the fees (if required) must instead be paid to the funeral director at the time of the funeral by your representative.

** A family-led funeral is where the family take care of the funeral ceremony on the day, with or without the services of a celebrant or minister.
