Who is the Funeral Planning Authority?

The Funeral Planning Authority (FPA) is an independent body and the only industry voluntary regulator.
Plan providers voluntary sign up to the scrutiny beyond the current regulatory framework: The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) Order 2001, Articles 59 & 60.
1.5 million* UK prepaid funeral plan holder families are set to benefit from the financial savings and emotional support a prepaid funeral plan provides from a Funeral Planning Authority registered provider.
In July 2022 the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will take over the reigns from the FPA for regulating funeral plans. All funeral plans purchased from an FPA plan provider before the hand-over will be covered retrospectively by the FCA rules.
